Kevin Whiting

Kevin has led tens of acquisition integrations across many industries with a focus on the high-tech, alternative energy, and health care sectors.

He has successfully designed and executed on integrations around the globe including San Francisco, Palo Alto, Sunnyvale and San Jose locations in the Silicon Valley;  L.A., Irvine, Boston, Marlborough, Acton, and Birmingham across the United States; and internationally in Paris, Prague, London, and Oslo.

Kevin splits his time between the West Coast and Mid-West to spend time with his family and counts surfing, hiking, and biking as his favorite healthy distractions from work.

Based on his success driving integrations from his roles in engineering management and corporate development, Kevin was recruited into the Director of Acquisition Integration at Sun Microsystems.  Here he literally wrote the book on integration, creating the corporate playbook, the Integration Team User Guide (ITUG). He then directed all integration planning and execution for the company, including managing a cross functional team of twenty. In addition to writing the ITUG at Sun, he created the Integration Management Office (IMO), including designing and staffing the organization, and then leading the cross-functional team for each integration.

A representative list of merger integration successes includes: JCP, Star Division, InnoSoft, MaxStrat, JavaStudio, ChorusOS, Procom Systems, NetBeans, Dolphin Systems, Pirus, HighGround Systems, DSS, Solaire, and J-Studio.

Most recently, Kevin led the integration of Portland based Vigillo into SambaSafety in Denver.  He organized the Integration Governance, including the Steering Committee, IMO, and Functional Team Leads and defined the High Level Integration plan including documenting the key assets to protect and a four phased project plan. He then drove the team to successfully execute on the Day 1 communications and employee on-boarding plan and positioned the integration for long term success by guiding the project management team and conducting regular executive reviews.

Prior, Kevin led the simultaneous integrations of HealthWyse and TherapySource (a carve out) into Casamba.  He successfully organized and drove the integration management office and provided regular, stylized updates to the CEO, Executive Staff, and Private Equity investors.

Previous to above, Kevin led the IMO for SunPower’s acquisition of Solaire including regular presentations to the President and staff.  He successfully managed a seven-figure integration budget to come in 14% below budget.  The project enjoyed an increase of 38% “favorable” ratings over the previous integration as revealed by an anonymous survey of the integration participants.  Based on this success, Kevin and the integration team were nominated for a SunPower Quarterly Excellence Award.

Kevin is a sought-after expert in the field and has participated in cross-industry panels on integration with Cisco, Intel, Microsoft, etc. And he has been asked to attend and present at invitation only workshops on Integration Best Practices.

Lastly, Kevin is positioned to scale to large nation-wide and/or global integration projects based on his experience and success teaming with complimentary consulting firms.  He is regularly recruited to lead integration projects for a firm that has specialized in post-merger consulting for more than three decades that has sold more books on merger integration and trained more professionals in merger integration than any other firm based in the U.S.  Similarly he is sought after to lead cross-border integrations by partnering with a premier integration firm that maintains a global reach with offices in 11 countries around the world.
